GTLawyers participates of acquisition in the pharmaceutical industry

The GTLawyers Law Firm was responsible for the legal assistance to the French pharmaceutical company Unither Pharmaceuticals, in the acquisition of Novartis Biociências industrial plant in Brazil. Once concluded, the transaction, which involves facilities for products and ophthalmological and ontological medicines located in the capital of São Paulo, will allow Unither to increase its sales and production capacity by up to 5%.

The scope of GTLawyers also included the intermediation of negotiations between the French company and Novartis headquarters, in Switzerland. The acquisition, which is still subject to compliance with certain previous conditions, is expected to be completed within 18 months, counting from December 2020.

The Brazilian pharmaceutical segment has been one of the most attractive for investments from foreign companies and has maintained its presence in mergers and acquisitions operations, carried out in the country. In 2020, the segment was in evidence due to the actions against the Covid-19 pandemic, alongside agribusiness and technology companies. It is important to remember that one of the ten countries that has invested most in medical research is Canada, which holds 2% of the global pharmaceutical market.

In nearly two decades of operation, GTLawyers is present in São Paulo (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Goiânia (GO) and Belo Horizonte (MG). The Law Firm is specialized in providing legal services to Canadian and foreign companies that do investment in Brazil in different segments of the economy, either through partnerships, direct investments, or mergers and acquisitions.
